As an Afro-Indigenous person, I believe that Black Liberation, Indigenous sovereignty, Land Back, and looking at better, more humane systems including the economic + political systems of Black and Indigenous people are way more important than implementing an economic and political system that was created by bigoted white men. I support people being able to live comfortably without financial trouble & the risk of losing their human rights and I support the health of Mother Earth. Capitalism is an evil, inhumane system that helped in the spread of slavery, imperialism, and colonialism including many of the human rights and environmental issues that we face today. At the same time, however, it needs to be acknowledged that communism and socialism have the ability to aid in colonialism and human rights + environmental abuses too. An economic and political system is not automatically better just because it is not capitalism and no system can truly help us if it refuses to center Black and Indigenous people, the fate of our home, and the liberation of marginalized peoples.
